We’ve now spent a little over a month at Telenor – and what a month it’s been! Since last time we’ve really gotten to know our separate divisions and our managers, and we’ve started to dive into various types of work in our departments. There are a lot of exciting developments going on in Telenor at the moment.
Torstein and Julie, who work in Telenor Business Norway, are learning about how Telenor positions itself within the business segment of the Norwegian market. Lavinia is working on new products for Norwegian private customers in Telenor Mobile, Silje is developing the entertainment channels in Canal Digital and Marius is exploring Telenors Global Product portfolio.
We’ve also been to Oslo Innovation Week, where Sigve Brekke and several of our managers held interesting presentations. Experiences from all these diverse arenas are important for what we mentioned in our last blog post: The Trainee Challenge!
A couple of weeks ago, we met with CEO Sigve Brekke who gave us a Challenge. Our mission is to come up with a product, service or app to improve Telenor either internally or for our customers. This is a very exciting task: Telenor operates in 12 countries and has over 175 million customers, meaning that there is an enormous variety of potential ideas to explore!
Last week we had our first meeting to discuss our task, and we jotted down some areas that might be interesting. Telenor already has digital banking and health initiatives in Asia underway, and we discussed topics ranging from e-governments and smart cities to e-commerce and online education. In the coming weeks, we will try to settle on the most interesting and impactful areas where we believe Telenor can make a difference.
Our aim is to present our suggestions for Sigve Brekke in June, and going forward now we will spend time drilling down on specific product ideas. It might be worth mentioning that In January, we’re all going to Eastern Asia to visit Telenors operations in countries like Thailand and Malaysia.
Here, we’ll get to do real user testing in Telenor markets that are quite different from the Norwegian one. We can’t wait!
Until next time,
